Earlier this month, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission announced the dates for the 2015-16 dove hunting season, so get those gears turning because the season will be here before you know it and you don’t want to be caught unprepared and miss some of the year’s best hunting.
It’s like a holiday when the Game and Fish Commission announces dates for hunting seasons. It puts a smile on our faces and we know it puts one on yours, but that moment of elation quickly passes when you realize that you need to book a trip and make preparations, including gear, licenses, transportation, and more. The hunting dates are as follows:
- 5 – Oct. 25 – mourning dove and Eurasian collard dove
- 19 – Jan. 7 – mourning dove and Eurasian collard dove
- 21 – Nov. 21 – proposed duck hunt
- 10 – Dec. 23 – proposed duck hunt
- 26 – Jan. 31 – proposed duck hunt
- 6 – Feb. 7 – proposed youth hunt
Mark these dates in your calendar, because as we said above, they will be here before you know it. In addition to the dates above, the Game and Fish Commission has also been busy focusing on the upcoming urban deer hunt period. Much must be done to make this hunt period a well-oiled machine; unlike backcountry hunts, urban hunts require more rules.
As pointed out in this Sun Times article, “The regulations have been set for the upcoming urban deer hunt period and all those interested in participating have been asked to familiarize themselves with the rules and make sure they have completed all requirements before the season kicks in.”
These regulations include things like having a valid Arkansas hunting license, Hunter Education card, written permission from the property owner if hunting is on private property, and so on. This is certainly a busy time for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Pluck A Duck today and we’ll be sure to help you out!
