Right now I’m sitting at the desk in my office and outside it is a muggy 90 degrees. It’s one of those sticky Arkansas summer days that causes everything to stick to ya. As boredom sets in I lose myself into imagination land. Those daydreams are not like other people’s distracted thoughts in July. I’m not at a lake, kicked back on a pontoon, watching the wakes from the jet-ski splashing on deck. Not on a beach somewhere with the sand between my toes. I’m not even envisioning being somewhere with a reel in my hand popping a crank-bait for that lunker to consume. No, I’m lost in those frosty covered window mornings. The 4 o’clock alarm not reaching it’s due because the excitement has awoken me early. I’m anxious to see what the morning has to behold. The smell of that freshly brewed coffee (boy doesn’t that coffee taste so much better during hunting season?) luring me downstairs into the kitchen for one more cup. 
Thinking about that cold boat ride, zig-zag’n in and out of trees headed to the hidden honey hole that is awaiting in the gloominess swamp, or the sweet sound of a Polaris cranking up to head to that “X” in the freshly scouted field from the day before. I’m lost in the feeling I get when the world awakes around me. I’m dreaming of that euphoria I get when I hear the whistling of wings in the faint darkness hovering just above my freshly placed decoys. That smell of gunpowder after the first crack of our groups shotguns that rings outwards and breaks natures silence. I’m remembering the group of mallards that dive bombed us from the heavens like Japanese kamikazes and suddenly stop mid flight, motionless suspending themselves for what seemed like an eternity five feet atop the decoys. But I, like all of us duck hunters, awake from my dream and notice its still July and seasons still over 120 days away. The duck withdrawals slip back in and take away that brief moment of pure bliss.

Our lodge is nestled along the L’anguille river just 30 miles west of the White River National Refuge that is known for having the largest wintering population inside the Mississippi flyway. Arkansas and duck hunting, it was insured with NBC’s famous 1956 footage of Claypools Resevoir where an estimated 300,000 ducks were caught on film. Most duck hunters have seen the photographs or even have them on display at the house or club. Claypools lies north of us around 40 miles. And just 65 miles south lies Stuttgart, the proclaimed duck capitol of the world. We are located right in the core of the top waterfowl wintering in a state that is the king for ducks. Our over 6000 acres of prime duck habitat that varies from the famous green timber, oxbow sloughs, buck brush backwater, WRP wetlands, to fields of milo, millet, soybeans, corn, and the famous Arkansas rice holds thousands upon thousands of waterfowl every winter. Our lodge and Arkansas’s hunting reputation still holds true today as it did in yesteryear.
Our off-season is no time to relax. It consists of us building and upgrading blinds for your comfort. We take countless hours clearing, pruning, building, cultivating, and planting to get the max potential for our prime waterfowl habitat. This provides great wintering grounds for the great array of ducks that winter in Arkansas. Our land will provide you the chance to harvest mallards, widgeon, gadwall, teal, pintail, shovelers, wood duck, specklebelly geese, snow geese, along with various diver species and the occasional black duck or redhead.
