Look, every hunter has had that “awe” moment. Your watching your favorite hunting show or reading your favorite fabled outdoor writer (I’m talking about legends like Nash Buckingham and Gordon MacQuarrie where you could smell the gunpowder, feel the brisk air, see the awe inspiring sun rise) and jealousy pours over you, because you weren’t there to experience it. I HAVEN’T. I was very fortunate to be born right dab in the middle of a waterfowl haven, The Famous Arkansas Delta. Even more fortunate to be the grandson of Cecil ‘Shorty’ Owens, who founded Pluck A Duck Lodge in 1989. I was born in 87′ so at two years old, over 30 years ago, I was sculpted to thrive in the waterfowl industry from the very begining. I sleep, eat, and dream of hunting. I’ve experienced thousands of ducks breaking tree tops coming into a hole no bigger than your house, watched hundreds of waffling Speckle-belly Geese racing to land at our feet, and have had 50k+ snow geese create their own dust bowl just 10 feet away. THESE SHOWS AND BOOKS DO NOT DO THE REAL THING JUSTICE.

Now, what really gets us excited here at Pluck A Duck, isn’t just the over abundance of waterfowl getting set up to make their final approach into our decoys. It is the fact that we get to share that experience with you. As I said, I was fortunate to be placed into the outfitting world from an early age. My grandfather taught me not only how to hunt, but to take care of our customers. To take that customer and not look at them as a paycheck (as a lot of outfitters out there do) but to nurture a relationship with them and convert that relationship into life-time friendships. Our experience here at the Pluck is bar none to any other out there, we have over 150 years experience between us. If “Mother Nature” gives us a way we will find it and provide that trip of a lifetime. Our strong work ethic is no comparison to “the others”.
